What this document attests (public summary)

This certificate, issued by the officers and members of R∴L∴ No. 47 (Ancient Constitution of York) under the distinctive title “Réunion des Cœurs Régulés” at the Orient of Port-Républicain (formerly Port-au-Prince), attests that Joseph Cerneau—identified as a jeweler from Villefranche (Rhône) and aged thirty-seven—was successively received Apprentice, Companion, and Master Mason, and that he enjoyed high consideration among the brethren. It functions as a formal letter of recommendation, inviting regular Masons to receive him well, and indicates authentication through seals, signatures, and Cerneau’s signature placed in the margin to prevent misuse.

This certificate (partly transcribed in the diplomatic translation) is issued by a Sovereign Chapter titled “Triple Unity” sitting at the Orient of P∴ R∴ (Port-Républicain). It attests that Joseph Cerneau—identified as a goldsmith-jeweler from Villefranche (Rhône), aged thirty-seven—had been raised to Sublime grades (including Knights of the East and Princes of Liberty), and after examination was received as Knight of the Eagle / Sovereign Masonic Prince “free of Heredom,” with the title noted in the original.
